Enrolment procedure for English language courses
Please see the enrolment procedure below.
If you would like to enrol in an English language course at UUNZ, please contact us for an enrolment form.
The most appropriate course for you will be determined by your current English language level and your plans for further study.
If you have proof of your English language level, we can use this to help you plan your pathway to tertiary study.
We can also arrange for you to take the UUNZ Placement Test to ensure you meet the admission criteria for your preferred course.
See our English language courses or download our Student Handbook for more information, including the entry requirements for each course.
If you are an international student enrolling for 2 weeks or longer, you will need to purchase travel and medical insurance that covers the requirements of the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021.
You can see the travel and medical insurance requirements here.
On the enrolment form, you'll be given two options for purchasing insurance:
- To purchase insurance through Southern Cross to cover the whole period of your travel to, from and in New Zealand.
- To purchase your own appropriate insurance to cover the whole period of your travel to, from and in New Zealand.
You’ll also have the option to select homestay accommodation and an airport pickup and to apply for Credit Recognition Transfer if you have already completed components of an NZCEL programme.
Once we receive your completed enrolment form, we’ll check we have all the information we require and that your insurance meets the requirements listed above. (You will be required to purchase further insurance if your insurance does not meet the requirements).
We will then provide you with an official offer letter.
Once you've received your official offer letter, you’ll need to arrange payment of your tuition and other fees, and then apply for your visa from Immigration New Zealand.
You can see more information about your visa options here.
Your enrolment can only be confirmed once we have received payment of your tuition and other fees and you hold an appropriate visa.
All student fees are held and protected in a trust account managed by Public Trust and are paid to UUNZ at regular intervals to cover the tuition already provided.
Once we’ve confirmed your enrolment, we’ll give you access to our online pre-departure orientation so you know what you’ll need to do before your course starts and what to expect when you arrive.
You’ll need to plan your travel so that you can attend orientation at the UUNZ campus on the Friday before your course starts.
If you took the UUNZ Placement Test while overseas in Step 1 above, we’ll arrange for you to take another version of the placement test at the UUNZ campus on the Friday before your course starts to make sure that you meet the entry requirements.
There is also further diagnostic testing in Week 1 of our courses to ensure all students have the required level of English proficiency and to provide support where necessary.
During your enrolment you must let us know immediately if you change your address, telephone number(s), email address, accommodation type or immigration status so that we can contact you when needed and provide appropriate support.
